Highlights of the month include the spectacular Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the fabulous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the Cowal Highland Games.



Edinburgh International Jazz & Blues Festival
30th Jul - 8th August 2010, Edinburgh
Outdoor concerts on the streets and all sorts of venues, with international artistes performing in the longest-running jazz festival in the UK.


Speyfest
29th July - 1st August 2010, Fochabers, Moray
Northern Celtic Festival has a wonderful weekend with a special programme for young people. Modern music and concerts, Celtic rock and ceilidhs with musicians from all over the world.


Edinburgh Art Festival
29th July - 1st September 2010, Edinburgh
Now in its' fifth year, the Edinburgh Art Festival returns with exhibitions of the works of Picasso, Andy Warhol, William Blake and Turner shortlist nominee Nathan Coley.


Edinburgh Military Tattoo
6th - 28th Aug 2010, Edinburgh
Spectacular event set against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. Hailed as one of the most spectacular shows in the world and watched by a TV audience of 100 million worldwide. Not to be missed.


Edinburgh Fringe Festival
6th - 30st Aug 2010, Edinburgh.
The world's biggest celebration of the arts. Runs for three weeks with a spectacular mix of culture and art. Theatre, music and dance, exhibitions, children's shows and events.


North Berwick International Highland Games
7th August 2010, North Berwick.
Traditional Highland Games and Highland dancing competitions. Pipe Band Championships with over 70 bands. Concludes with a spectacular massed pipe band display.


Edinburgh International Festival
13th August - 5th September 2010, Edinburgh.
Another great celebrations of the arts, the Edinburgh International Festival offers live performances by internationally renowned artists, classical music, theatre, opera and dance.


Edinburgh International Book Festival
14th - 30th Aug 2010, Edinburgh.
The world's biggest book festival. Meet authors from around the world. Discussions, lectures, debates and workshops.


The Cowal Highland Gathering
26th - 28th Aug 2010, Dunoon.
The world's largest Highland Games. Competitors are attracted from all over the world for dancing, piping, heavy events, athletics and shinty.
