How you can be part of this site

There's a few ways in which you can participate and contribute to the content of this site and My Scotland Newsletter ......

  • You can Have Your Own Page just by signing the Guestbook. All the    short comments are viewed on one page, but if you can write around    one hundred words, I'll put your comment on a page all by itself.

  • You can Share Your Scottish Recipes. If you have any good recipes,    send them in for publication on the site. It doesn't matter if a recipe for    your favourite dish is already there, if your recipe is different, send it in.

  • You can send in your funny Scottish stories for publication on the
My Scotland page. They can be stories, jokes, funny emails or anything    at all relating to Scottish humour, as long as they're not offensive.

  • You can send in old Scottish sayings you may have heard from parents    or grandparents, or any of the weird and wonderful newer sayings, or    even Scottish slang words for publication on the Scottish Sayings page.

  • My monthly moan

I may start a monthly moan section on My Scotland Newsletter, because it seems every month I have something to whinge about. OK, maybe it's an age thing, but sometimes it does you good to have a right old moan.

Anyway, this month I'm moaning about emails - unsolicited emails, affectionately known as SPAM. More and more of these emails seem to be getting through my spam filter, from people I don't know, trying to sell me something I have no interest in. Some of them claim to be Spam compliant because they have an "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email.

So then I have to take the time and trouble to "unsubscribe" to something I never subscribed to in the first place. ISN'T THAT WORTH A MOAN?

My advice to the people who send these emails is : Concentrate your time and effort into creating and building something of value that will attract people who have a genuine interest in your offer. Having built this site, I know it's a long, slow process, but much more rewarding in the long run.

There! I feel much better now!

Do you have something to moan about? What irritates or really annoys you? Send Me Your Moan for publication on My Scotland Newsletter.

I'm not really that much of a grump ... Honest! In fact, there are so many Things I Love About Scotland, I even wrote a wee page on the subject.

Until the next My Scotland Newsletter update ..... John
