Scottish Book Town Festival
24th Sept - 3rd Oct 2010, Wigtown, Dumfries & Galloway. Known as Scotland's national book town, Wigtown hosts the festival with over 250,000 books. a great chance to meet some of the country's renowned writers.
Baxters Loch Ness Marathon
3rd October 2010, Fort Augustus to Inverness 10K and 5K runs in one of the leading marathons in the UK, amidst breathtaking scenery. Along the shores of Loch Ness and finish in Inverness Queens Park stadium.
Cowalfest
8th - 17th Oct 2010, Cowal Arts Festival and also the largest walking festival in Scotland. Cultural events, arts & walking to celebrate the natural world, mountains, lochs and woodland.
The Royal National Mod
8th - 16th October 2010, Oban. Ceud Mile Failte (One Hundred Thousand Welcomes) from Oban! In 2009 the Royal National MOD, Scotland's premier celebration of its Gaelic language, music and culture is going home to Oban, its birthplace. Relax with a ceilidh, concert, exhibition and a showcase of all things Gaelic.
The Enchanted Forest
22nd Oct - 10th November 2010, Pitlochry. Choreographic creation of dramatic light and sound performances. A night time spectacular set in perthshire's Big Tree Country.
Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival
22nd - 24th Oct 2010, Edinburgh. Focus is on adventure activities, promoted through films, lectures and exhibitions. A chance for would-be film directors to showcase their work.
Glenfiddich Piping And Fiddling Championship
30th - 31st October 2010, Blair Atholl. The annual showcase of the very best solo pipers and fiddlers, this weekend event in the grand setting of the Blair Castle ballroom, is a major date on Scotland's traditional music calendar.
