Highlights of the month include the Braemar Gathering, the Scottish Countryside Festival, and the Scottish Book Town Festival.



Edinburgh Art Festival
4th August - 4th september 2011, Edinburgh
Now in its' fifth year, the Edinburgh Art Festival returns with exhibitions of the works of Picasso, Andy Warhol, William Blake and Turner shortlist nominee Nathan Coley.


Spring Garden Show
2nd - 4th Sept 2011, Dundee
Leap into spring with fabulous displays of floral art with the Spring Garden Show. Nurseries and garden centres will be there, and a craft fair.


The Braemar Gathering
3rd Sept 2011, Braemar
Possibly the most popular of all the Highland Games in the world, and the only one which guarantees the presence of a member of the royal family. Track events and displays, pipers and dancers.


Scottish Countryside Festival
3rd & 4th September 2011, Glamis, Angus
Scotland's Countryside Festival is held in the spectacular grounds of Glamis Castle, home of the Queen Mother as a child. A varied range of attractions such as fishing, shooting, dog competitions, archery, craft stalls and fun for the children.


Scottish Food Fortnight
3rd - 18th Sept 2011, Countrywide.
Scottish Food Fortnight is a celebration of Scottish food and drink. Taking part will be Shops, hotels, restaurants, schools and farmers.


Pitlochry Highland Games
10th September, 2011, Pitlochry.
Everthing you would expect at a traditional Highland games event. Highland dancing, pipers, track and field events, grand pipe band contest for grades 1 to 4 and novice juvenile, and a grand finale of massed pipe bands.


Scottish Book Town Festival
23rd Sept - 2nd October 2011, Wigtown, Dumfries & Galloway.
Known as Scotland's national book town, Wigtown hosts the festival with over 250,000 books. a great chance to meet some of the country's renowned writers.


The Belhaven Best Dunbar Traditional Music Festival
23rd Sept - 25th Sept 2011, Dunbar.
Song, music, pipes and drums, children's workshops, informal tunes and session, concerts, ceilidhs and open air performances for a wide range of musical tastes.
